Erol was an apparently normal Dorai Khen, or Forest Drake, who was adopted by Jerall Markant shortly after the Knights of the Silver Cross defeated the evil that had possessed the Tower of Kallerain.
After hanging out with the KotSC for a while Erol started behaving very strangely; eventually turning silver and developing magic powers. There's a lesson in there somewhere kids.
