Hjae Sarria

Born during the great wars between Law and Chaos that took place on Varys following the Great Breach, Hjae Sarria was a great matriarch of the Sarrian race. By aligning herself with the forces of Chaos however, she soon gained even greater power - and eventually succeeded in uniting many of the disparate Sarrian houses into a single great army. As the effect of Chaos upon her grew more and more profound, many of her followers began to worship her as a god, and she became known as the Demon Queen by her enemies.

At the peak of her power Hjae Sarria led a great crusade of chaos that swept across much of the core-fragment of Varys and destroyed many of the remaining strongholds of Law outside of the Shining Gate. Most impressively her forces succeeded in shattering three of the nine Golden Chains, as well as burning down the great library-citadel of Tarraehus.

The crusade ended with an assault upon the Shining Gates themselves, where Hjae Sarria's forces succeeded in destroying the gates, but were eventually encircled and overwhelmed by armies loyal to the Karithkaia. Hjae Sarria avoided this last battle however, instead descending into the ancient catacombs that held the Heartstone. There she successfully slew the Avatar of the Karithkaia before touching the Heartsone itself - and being reduced to dust as a result.

Throughout the Sixth Age it was believed that she had been defeated utterly - and with her the forces of Chaos on Varys. However this proved to be false hope, as during the Seventh Age it became apparent that her touch had been sufficient to fatally taint the Heartstone - transforming it into the terrible Heart of Chaos. Although there is no sign that Hjae Sarria herself has returned to life, her touch now lies on the soul of most of the plane's inhabitants - a legacy that is impossible to overlook.
