Often known simply as The Angel of Alas, Aestal was an Angel of tremendous power, outstripping several minor Gods in terms of followers and magical might. Many sages believe that she was the most powerful angel ever to exist.
It is generally assumed that she was once human, although nothing is known of her origin and it is uncertain whether Aestal is her original name. Since Alas herself remains aloof from events on the Core Plane it would seem that Aestal directly inherited many of her worshippers and a portion of her power.
Aestal appeared as a pale-skinned and beautiful woman, dressed all in black and with long black hair. She had delicate wings that seemed formed of folded darkness and bore a long, slim, black sword.
The angel was slain by Starenkeen during the Eighth Age at Hightemple in Karantas, although her death brought forth the Black Citadel - which seems to suggest that the Angel of Storms was merely a pawn in her plans.
Many worshippers of Aestal believe that was reborn within the citadel following her death, and now wanders the planes in secret, seeking out the Banesword.
Followers of Aestal adhere to the Code of Alas. Her symbol is the Ascended Blade; a sword with a pair of wings growing from its guard, all in black.
