Karithaia

The Karithkaia is a titanic magical machine the size of a city, brought to Varys by the Angel Jurakell to try and repair the damage done to the plane by the Great Breach.

Legends say that the Karithkaia once flew from land to land, fighting alongside the armies of Law, performing great miracles such as the raising of the Shining Gate and even leading the Golden Land directly through its avatar. All of that is long in the past though, and now the Karithkaia rests silently at the heart of the Golden Land - its labyrinthine corridors all but deserted and most of its mechanisms stilled.

Only a very few elite priests are permitted within the Karithkaia now, and those selfless volunteers who opt to be transformed into Karithkine - the Golden Land’s super-soldiers.

It was the Karithkaia that created the Golden Chains that bind the core of Varys to the lesser fragments, saving the plane from destruction during the Fifth Age. It was also responsible for sealing the plane off from its neighbours, first in the Fifth Age and then again in the Seventh Age, in order to prevent the Chaos infested Varys from spreading to neighbouring planes. This latter seal has never been lifted.
