Philosophical atheism

A philosophy espoused by a large minority of the Royal Order of the Dragon and associated groups. Adherants eschew the worship of Gods as they feel that any being of such power and knowledge must have motivations that a human is essentially incapable of comprehending. As it is impossible to trust a being whose motivations one does not understand, worshipping such a being is foolish as worship implies a large degree of trust.

The term 'atheism' in English implies the denial of, or disbelief in, the existence of a God or Gods, which the Royal Order of the Dragon patently do not do. They are more properly described by the pseudo-Greek neologism antilatreian, meaning 'one who is opposed to worship'. It seems unlikely that any actual atheists exist on a planet that is so full of the results of their actions, and so the terms are no doubt equivalent in Mantonian.
