This simple tracking spell provides its caster with the rough direction of a target individual, provided they are within the spell's Maximum Detection Range. Directions provided by the spell are limited to cardinal and ordinal compass directions – I.e. N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W or NW. An incidental side effect of the spell is that its caster can sense which way is north, meaning that the spell is sometimes useful to cast with no target – simply in order to use it as a magical compass.
