Shining Gate

A huge fortress in the great wall that surrounded the Golden Land's entire periphery at the end of the Fifth Age. The Shining Gate was brought forth from the earth itself by the power of the Karithkaia and stood directly in front of the ancient catacombs of the Heartstone. Reinforced by both the magic of the Karithkaia and the power of the Heartstone itself, the fortress was believed to be utterly impregnable - freeing the bulk of Law's forces to sortie forth into the western lands infested by Chaos.

This belief was soon challenged however, as Hjae Sarria led her forces to assault the gate following a string of great victories against key targets in the west - most notably three of the nine Golden Chains. Although her armies were eventually destroyed in the huge battle that followed, the Shining Gate itself was shattered and this, combined with the death of the Avatar of the Karithkaia, is believed to have greatly weakened the Karithkaia.
