Death of the Great Betrayer

The most famous and controversial piece of artwork in the Shrine of the Golden Sword in Takharria, Death of the Great Betrayer is a huge sculpture that depicts Jurakell wielding the Golden Sword while locked in mortal combat with Yndataraen. Many in the Golden Land find the statue to be in poor taste, or even consider it outright heretical, for its depiction of in-fighting within the cause of Law - but other factions (especially in Takharria itself) praise it for showing that nobody is above the law - and that even the greatest of champions can falter.

The statue itself is very old, and is believed to pre-date the shrine that surrounds it. According to local legend, a great shrine of Yndataraen once stood on the same spot - but was demolished and replaced with this piece when news of the great dragon's betrayal and death came to Varys at the start of the Sixth Age.
