By meditating on the form of a well-known weapon, as outlined by its anchor runes, you are able to form a spiritual bond with it – causing it to inflict secondary Psychic Damage equal to your Willpower in addition to its normal damage. This additional damage is known as the weapon's Attunement Damage.

In order to form this bond you must first attune yourself with the weapon, performing a Meditation skill check with difficulty 18 and taking up a single Rune Slot. This process takes about an hour, but will endure until you attune another rune in this slot. Any weapon marked with anchor runes is suitable for this process, including natural, melee, thrown and ranged weapons. However you personally may only attune weapons of types that you have specialised in.

The anchor runes on a weapon attuned in this way pulse with an eerie purple light whenever it strikes – providing Illumination equal to one third of your Willpower (round up).
