The core element of Astral Projection, Project Spirit allows its caster to enter a deep trance that temporarily separates his spirit from his physical body. While in spirit form the caster functions in a fashion that is identical to a true Astral Spirit in most respects, although he still channels Power as a living being and can be rendered unconscious or killed by suffering sufficient damage.

Like all spirits, the caster's spiritual form is immune to Shock and to Physical and Energy Damage, though he remains vulnerable to Psychic attacks (taking both Psychic and Psychic Stun Damage as if they were Psychic Shockless). His body becomes immune to Shock and Psychic damage, but can still be hurt normally by Physical and Energy attacks. All wounds taken, whether to his spirit or his body, are fully applied to the caster and can cause unconsciousness or death as normal.

Throughout the duration of the trance, the caster is only dimly aware of his physical body – although the spell maintains enough of a link to prevent death or possession. When the spell ends the caster's spirit snaps back into his body instantly. If his spiritual form was within the Safe Return Distance of his body this does no harm, however if he was roaming further afield then he suffers the listed Sudden Return Shock.
