Lord General

A rank specific to Mantoni, the Lord General is the most senior of the three generals of an Order.

Lord Generals have the automatic right to attend the Royal Council, although they only receive a vote there if they are their order's nominated representative on the council - something that is quite common amongst the more militaristic orders such as the Wolf or Dragon.

Lord General Harra, for example, started off as just General Harra but when the previous Lord General was killed she was next in line to the rank. She was also given the Wolf's seat on the Royal Council, because the Wolf consider their Lord General to be the head of their order and believe in centralised command.

There is also a Mantonian rank of Lord, which can be bestowed on someone who is also a General; However this does not make them a Lord General unless they also hold that title.

To avoid (at least some of the) confusion the title General takes precedence over the title Lord; so a respected General would always be General Whoever not Lord Whoever even if (s)he also holds that title.

Lord General can be shortened to either Lord or General, normally depending on the circumstances, but shortening it at all is actually pretty rare and normally the full title is used.

Lord Generals are powerful people, both personally and as a function of influence.
