This basic form of healing magic reinforces a wounded individual's natural Essence, closing their wounds, encouraging healing and eliminating Shock. The caster must be in direct physical contact with the spell's target, and even a thin barrier such as clothing will block the spell's effects. The target's current level of Wound Penalty is added to the difficulty of the spell, meaning that more serious wounds are harder to close. If the spell is successful the target is considered to be Stabilised.

As with First Aid-based stabilisation, Close Wounds has no effect on wounds caused by Psychic or Life-Drain Damage – although likewise those injuries have no effect on the difficulty of casting the spell.
