An invaluable investigative tool that is often used in conjunction with counterspells of one kind or another, Analyse Magic enables its caster to sense the amount of Power invested in a nearby spell as well as informing him of its Casting Total and the Spell Group that it is part of (or most closely linked to). If the caster has learnt the Spell Group in question then he also discovers the exact spell used, and in any case he receives a +5 bonus to all General Knowledge: Mage Lore checks related to this spell. Most useful of all however is the fact that Analyse Magic will also capture a Mentalic Impression of the target spell's caster, provided that Analyse Magic's casting total equals or exceeds that of the target spell.
