Skill Check
Skill Checks require the character's player to make a dice roll (2d6) and add the result to the Skill and Stat requested by the GM. Generally the Stat required will be the Stat that the Skill is based on, and this is considered the default if no Stat is specified.
Higher is always better where Skill Checks are concerned, with the character's degree of success or failure at the task dependant on the check's total compared to the Difficulty assigned to the task by the GM. Difficulty levels may sometimes be known in advance (as when casting spells) but typically speaking the GM will keep the exact number to himself, although he may choose to give a general notion of how difficult he considers the task overall.
Typically the Difficulty of Skill Checks should be in the range of 15 to 25.
If the player rolls a 2 when making a Skill Check this is considered a Fumble, which is an automatic failure. If he rolls a 12 this is a Critical and allows him to make an additional dice roll and add that as well - making success far more likely.
