Dragon Desert

The land that is now the Dragon Desert was once the rich and fertile Dantonian Empire. Danton was conquered by the Army of Darkness and their Orc allies in the Wars of Strife, but at the end of the wars the entire area was consumed by a gigantic firestorm - annihilating all life and transforming the very earth into sand.

The clearly magical origins of the desert are apparent even in modern times, since the area is far hotter than the temperate norms of Amethgare, in addition the desert borders are clearly marked by constant sandstorms that keep the sand and heat in and keep most water out.

Although the desert is for the most part extremely barren, some life, against all the odds, does linger on. The precious pockets of water and life that remain are just enough to make a few trade routes through the desert practical, and are more than enough to support several tribes of Sassakk Lizardmen, the only sentient race to still call this once-prosperous land its home.
