Lightning damage is a type of Energy Damage that produces a greater than normal proportion of Shock - meaning that it is typically not quite as dangerous as it seems.
When a character suffers from Lightning damage two thirds (round up) of the resulting Injury Penalty is taken as Shock rather than half - so the resulting Wound Penalty is only one third (round down) of the total injury.
Lightning is associated with the Element of Air, so any effect that modifies Air Damage also affects Lightning Damage.
