Linnastus was, until recently, a prosperous city-state located close to the southern edge of the Stone Flow, some distance to the west of the Golden Land. The city is now nothing more than a ruin however, razed to the ground by crusaders from Matraeth, and its people have been forced to flee across the Stone Flow to the Lahrus Plains to the north-west.
Since the destruction of Vaekharria a decade ago, also by crusaders from Matraeth, many in Linnastus had been preparing for a similar attack on their own city. Thus when the blow finally came the city was evacuated in relatively good order, with the city's army (bolstered by many Vaekharrian veterans) able to delay the crusader's advance long enough for the Council of Priests to teleport more than half of the civilian population to a series of hastily prepared camps in and around the Stone Flow itself.
The majority of these refugees are now resident in the broken lands surrounding the ancient ruined city of Barrastus, at the eastern edge of the Lahrus Plains. Unfortunately with the fall of Vahkastus to Chaos forces, the plains themselves are no longer safe and the refugees' fate remains unclear.
Linnastus, along with Vahkastus and Barrastus, are believed to have been remnants of a larger nation known as the Republic of Rusanti that prospered during the Sixth Age. Little is remembered of this fallen state, though it is believed that extensive trade - both internal and external to the Plane - was the source of its wealth and power.
