Also known as the Sun Stone, the Solinast was a great, shining orb of light discovered by the [[Emperor Annolis]] of [[Danton]] during his travels early in the [[Sixth Age]]. It was an artefact of great power, containing much of the energy of the [[God]]dess [[Solandria]] and was considered central to the continued success of the Dantonian Empire.

As well as granting the emperors of Danton many visions and insights, it was believed that as long as the Solinast remained in the High Temple of Solandria no enemy could breach the borders of the empire without being detected and defeated and that the empire would remain pure of spirit and free of corruption. Whether or not these things were true, certainly the destruction of the sphere at the end of the Sixth Age marked the beginning of a dark time for Danton and an end to it's golden age of prosperity.

The destruction of the Solinast coincided with the [[Death of Mithrilanda|apparent death]] of the empire's other divine sponsor - [[Mithrilanda]], and it is generally thought that [[Sulansis]]'s attack on the [[God]]dess of Magic formed a key element in the ritual that destroyed the orb - even though she had planned to strike down Solandria herself. The physical act of smashing the orb, carried out by the treacherous high priest of Mithrilanda, formed only the very end of the ritual and it is thought that under other circumstances it would have been unharmed by anything short of extreme physical force.

Following its demise, the shards of the Solinast were transported to [[Magnas]], where they were forged into a set of lesser artefacts known as the [[Gems of Magnas]] or Star Stones.

Many believe that Annolis first found the orb on the isle of [[Kotar]], and marked the route that he followed to it by building the temples of the [[Bright Path]], with its original resting place now the location of [[Lothae Sol]].
