By bracing your longspear or polearm against a charging foe, you are able to turn their own momentum against them – replacing your [[Stats|Strength]] stat with their [[Stats|Movement]] for purposes of calculating damage done by your spear as well as gaining +1 [[Damage Category]].<br />

Setting a spear is performed as a defensive action and can only be used against a foe that is charging your position (I.e. Moving at running pace or faster). If your defence check succeeds then the spear strikes before your foe can attack, but if you fail (or if the damage is not sufficient to fell them) then they may attack you unopposed. Only weapons that list the Set Spear move are suitable for performing it.<br />
