The Rusanti are a breed of [[Humans]] found on [[Varys]] who are descended from remnants of the once-great [[Republic of Rusant]]. Although once an extremely prosperous people, their population now consists of two distinct cultural groups - both of which are in danger of extinction. The larger of the two groups is that located on the western [[Lahrus Plains]] and concentrated in the cities of [[Vahkastus]] and [[Tarrastus]], while the smaller remnant is that of the [[Linnastus|Linnastian Refugees]] who are currently settled in the [[Black Hills]].

The Rusanti were once known as great traders and seekers after knowledge, and the influence of their culture is felt widely on Varys despite their decline. For example, much of the trade that still occurs on Varys is facilitated by [[Rusanti Common]], a polyglot derivative of the Rusanti's own [[High Rusanti]] tongue.

Rusanti typically have light brown skin, hair that is black, brown or blonde and eyes that are green, brown or golden-yellow - but interbreeding with neighbouring races such as the [[Sarrastians]] or the now-extinct [[Sarrians]] means that features such as grey eyes or a faint orange tinge to the skin are not unknown.
