The Regency of Haelenfels is a recently founded principality on [[Amethgare]] that lies to the east of [[Karantas]] - forming an effective buffer-zone between it and its traditional enemies [[Mantoni]] and [[Endon]] and connecting Mantoni with its ally [[Berellion]] to the north. The Regency is made up of four cities that were once counted as part of Karantas, and was established following its defeat in the recent war with Mantoni, Endon and Berellion. Each of these cities is now ruled over by a council of Mantonian [[Sorcerer Adventurer|sorcerers]], chaired by one of the four Mantonian princes - [[Prince Halaric|Halaric]], [[Prince Thomas|Thomas]], [[Prince Mark|Mark]] and [[Prince Anthony|Anthony]]. The Regency is named for the city of [[Haelenfels]], which is the largest of the four and now serves as its capital.

Mantoni claims that, in time, it will allow the Regency to decide its own destiny, with its constituent cities each given a choice as to whether they wish to rejoin Karantas, become part of Mantoni or remain as an element of an independent Regency. Most political observers consider the Regency to be de-facto Mantonian territory however, claimed as the spoils of a long and very costly war - and with talk of independence and self-determination intended mainly to win over the population of the occupied cities.
