Import from discussion group.

New page

Lord is a title given to those who are on the Royal or Noble Council, in certain other key offices, or as an honorific to those who are considered to be especially worthy of respect. In all cases it is normally reserved for the Sorcerer rank.

Lord Holme is Lord Holme because he is the head of the Knights of the Silver Cross and thus a direct adjunct to the Noble Council; although he's not actually on either the Noble or Royal Council.

Aesha Lehtranna is sometimes called Lady Lehtranna simply as a generic term of respect; in essence she is a notable enough Sorceress that she deserves the title. It is quite common for Sorcerers to be called Lord or Lady on occasion since they are often considered equivalent to the nobilities of other nations. In general the frequency with which the title is accorded indicates the relative respect in which that sorcerer is held or their progress through the rank. So a new Sorcerer is unlikely to be called a Lord while a very politically connected, very old or very powerful Sorcerer is much more likely to be so honoured.

Governors of specific territories and heads of key civilian or military bodies are also often called Lord.
