The Karithkaia is a titanic magical machine the size of a city, brought to [[Varys]] by the [[Angel]] [[Jurakell]] to try and repair the damage done to the plane by the [[Great Breach]].

Legends say that the Karithkaia once flew from land to land, fighting alongside the armies of Law, performing great miracles such as the raising of the [[Shining Gate]] and even leading the [[Golden Land]] directly through its [[Avatar of the Karithkaia|avatar]]. All of that is long in the past though, and now the Karithkaia rests silently at the heart of the Golden Land - its labyrinthine corridors all but deserted and most of its mechanisms stilled.

Only a very few elite priests are permitted within the Karithkaia now, and those selfless volunteers who opt to be transformed into [[Karithkine]] - the Golden Land’s super-soldiers.

It was the Karithkaia that created the [[Golden Chains]] that bind the core of Varys to the lesser fragments, saving the plane from destruction during the [[Fifth Age]]. It was also responsible for sealing the plane off from its neighbours, first in the Fifth Age and then again in the [[Seventh Age]], in order to prevent the [[Chaos]] infested Varys from spreading to neighbouring [[Planes|planes]]. This latter seal has never been lifted.
