The Dunoln are, or possibly were, a mysterious race who created a great [[Dunoln Empire|empire]] that was spread throughout many of the [[plane]]s of [[Reshomme]].

The Dunoln were greatly skilled in the manipulation of physical form and had knowledge of magic that could be used to incorporate magical devices directly into the bodies of living beings. Using these techniques the Dunoln altered their original appearance beyond recognition, with each member of their race becoming almost wholly unique. As a result it is essentially impossible to definitively identify whether a given being is in fact a Dunoln or not.

As well as their own race, the Dunoln also created or altered a great many other species - creating new breeds of existing races or granting certain individuals or factions great strength, intelligence, longevity or other gifts. They also created servant races who were linked, through implanted magical devices, to great guide spirits.

These servants operated in a fashion much like an insect hive-mind, with their guiding spirit most often bound into the city that they maintained. Although the Dunoln seem to be extinct, some of their great works remain and in those places it is common to find surviving servants still carrying out their duties - centuries after the demise of their creators.
