Originally owned by the creator [[Menkharra]], he used the Banesword to cut himself and created the [[Amma]] from the blood that it spilt. At the end of the [[Second Age]] the [[Amma]] rebelled and used the blade to kill him. Subsequently [[Alas]] claimed it from them and used it to kill all the [[Amma]] and destroy everything they had ever created.

The Banesword is often called the Banesword of [[Alas]] and in modern times is considered sacred to her. The current location of the Banesword is unknown, although the [[Knights of The Silver Cross]] have their [[Angaresh Keep|suspicions]].

The Banesword is normally depicted as a great, black sword covered in runes. It is believed to change its shape to suit the preferred weapon of its wielder and can confer great power upon its user.

Many worshippers of [[Alas]] seek the resting place of the Banesword, most notably the [[Church of The Sword]] who believe that it lies somewhere within [[Antalon]].
