Wound Penalties represent lasting injuries suffered by a character, with each point of Wound Penalty applying a -1 penalty to all the character's Stat and Skill Checks (including Trauma Checks). These penalties are fully cumulative with any Shock the character may be suffering. Suffering a Wound Penalty immediately provokes a Trauma Check.
The most common cause of Wound Penalties is as a by-product of damage: whenever a character receives sufficient damage to provoke an Injury Penalty then half of this penalty (round up) is suffered as a Wound Penalty.
Recovering from Wound Penalties is much more difficult than recovering from Shock and normally requires either medical attention and bed-rest, or magical healing.
