Tronkarr

Huge lizardy people with shells. Try not to think ninja turtles. Tronkarr are a form of Lantarak Lizardmen; with two legs, two arms, a balancing tail and a predatory jawline, they differ considerably from common lizardmen in that they have a hunchbacked posture and a series of interlocking, bony plates on their back that form a semi-flexible shell-like structure.

Juvenile Tronkarr are small (for their race) and nimble, with the lightest 'shell'. They are probably the most understandable to other races and the most adaptable of the three types.

Mature Tronkarr are the warrior-breed, they are slow-moving and incredibly strong, large even for Tronkarr and tend to be rather stoical and direct. Their 'shells' are much larger and heavier than that of a Juvenile and they have a number of spiked ridges. Their scales elsewhere are also heavier and tougher. All Juvenile Tronkarr eventually grow up to be Mature Tronkarr. Mature Tronkarr are about 9-10 foot ground-to-shell-top, and very broad - about five or more foot across. Younger Tronkarr are correspondingly smaller.

Elder Tronkarr are about the same size as Juvenile but retain the heavy 'shell' of the Mature type, although it has an even greater number of spikes and ridges. The Elders have powerful magical abilities and keen minds; regaining the mental aptitude of the Juvenile while retaining the strong will of the Mature. Only the brightest and best of the Tronkarr ever become Elders, with those who will one day achieve this rank often marked out while they are still Juveniles. The transformation from Mature to Elder requires a ritual to be performed by the existing Elders.

Tronkarr society is extremely stable thanks to their very long life-span and stubborn adherence to tradition. The Tronkarr encountered on the Crimson Isles apparently believe that they were abandoned by their 'masters' over a thousand years ago and yet the only notable changes to their society in that time seem to be the development of basic agriculture, building and survival skills. They are also quite certain that their masters will one day return, and seem rather baffled by the concept of humans chaotically expanding, building and inventing without guidance or intervention. The Tronkarr seem to have some slight familiarity with the Sulaim and some of those encountered speak an archaic form of the Sulaim language.

The Tronkarr guide and translator assigned to the Knights of the Silver Cross during their stay with the Tronkarr was named Serstran'Erent'Ko'Arr'Ethtain'Choren'Karr.

Most Tronkarr on Teth live in northern Nentreneth, where a series of small settlements comprise a makeshift kingdom. The capital of this state is the small city of Guardheart. The Tronkarr of this area greatly revere a powerful spirit known as the First Blademaster of Nentreneth.
