Your study of the pure principles of magic allows you to identify which aspects of a given spell are essential to its core functions, and which are simply there to bolster its effectiveness or make it easier to cast. As a result you can choose to trim a spell down to its barest essentials in order to cast it more quickly, adding the Fast Casting attribute but increasing the Difficulty of the spell by 2. This technique cannot be combined with spells that already have the Fast Casting attribute, or any other attribute that applies a modifier to your casting Initiative.
