Plane of Dutriorch

This lifeless plane is rocky and barren, lit only by faint starlight and with little running water. High levels of volcanic activity mean that the terrain is a mass of jagged spires and sudden crevices, although sulphurous vents provide much-needed warmth in this otherwise frozen landscape.

Despite the unforgiving nature of this bleak world, there are considerable signs that it was once inhabited by a flourishing civilisation - most notably in the form of several gargantuan subterranean temples. These ancient structures are magically reinforced to resist the frequent earthquakes and eruptions that plague the land, and remain in remarkably good condition despite having been abandoned for hundreds, or perhaps even thousands, of years.

Both the plane's Planar Gates are housed in complexes of this kind, although the link to Intollaen is considerably more troubled than the gate to Nsadhehn. The Nsadehn gate lies in a relatively small structure that has partially collapsed, although the gate itself remains stable and clear. The Intollaen gate, however, is buried in the depths of the largest known complex on the plane - a temple that is haunted by thousands of strange and often menacing spirits. In addition, the gate itself is known to be unreliable and those who venture through have little guarantee of reaching their destination safely.
