Power Cost: 2 to 6
Duration: Fleeting

This spell forges a short-lived path through the Elemental Plane of Water, allowing its caster to step instantaneously between two distant points – so long as both are either shrouded in mist or are at least partially covered in water (a few centimetres depth is sufficient). As well as transporting its caster, Mist Step also creates a shroud of mist at the departure point – potentially confusing enemies further as to his real location.

The summoned mist applies a penalty to all Awareness checks carried out within its area, and to those from outside looking in, although the caster's own Awareness is unaffected. The mist itself is not inherently magical however and will last only as long as prevailing conditions allow (I.e. If the weather is warm and dry, it will swiftly dissipate – whereas in cold or humid conditions it may persist for some time).

The caster does not need a line of sight to his destination, he simply provides a distance and direction – however if the indicated point is unsuitable, either because there is insufficient room or it is not mist or water-bound, then the caster remains where he is – although the spell's mist-shroud effect goes off regardless. Mist Step is especially useful since it can be cast reflexively, allowing its caster to escape attacks by casting it.

Awareness Penalty: -4 (does not stack with similar penalties, such as that of Freezing Mists)
Mist Area: Circle with radius of 1/2m x Power
Mist Height: 1/2m x Power
Range: 5m x Power (between areas covered in mist or water)
