"When Grendarra looked upon the devastation Alas has worked upon the cities of the Amma, he joined her in weeping - for every dream he had ever had lay ruined around his feet."

Grendarra is the younger brother of Menkharra, and is known as the God of the Forge. He is a peerless smith and took great joy in forging a world of wonders together with the Amma during the Second Age.

When Sulansis first betrayed her twin Solandria and was banished by Vellamni, Grendarra took it upon himself to raise the devastated Amma-girl to godhood and adopt her as his daughter.

However, after the death of his brother, and the destruction of the Amma by Alas, he withdrew from the world entirely and became bitter and isolated. Although despite his distant and moody disposition, Solandria remains his tie to the world and through her he has come to appreciate that there is joy in teaching secrets of craft to those few mortals he considers worthy.

Apart from Solandria, Grendarra has little time for the other gods and their squabbles, and sees grand causes and great crusades as nothing more than a way of dressing up slaughter and destruction. The only time he is likely to be drawn into direct action is to defend some beautiful work of art or legendary craft, since he values such things more highly than simple life.

On those rare occasions where he manifests, Grendarra appears as a blacksmith of massive statute, old and tired but with fierce strength and burning eyes. His symbol is the Tempered Flame, a fire encircled by a chain. His worshippers follow the Code of Grendarra.
