Forming the basis for all enchanting, Bind Magic ties a maintained spell into an object, allowing the spell to persist without requiring its caster's full concentration. Once bound into an item, the spell is controlled by whoever holds or carries the item, and its effects are applied on that basis. Thus if Ice Armour is bound into a ring, then whoever wears that ring is provided with the armour – and the ring does nothing when it is not being worn.

Regardless of who holds or uses the enchanted item, the spells bound into it (including Bind Magic itself) still require Power from their caster to function. Bind Magic does not require a free Spell Slot to cast, and instead re-uses the slot currently occupied by the spell it is binding. Once casting is complete the bound spell gains the Enduring attribute, meaning that spell and binding can share half a Spell Slot. If a Conditionally Maintainable effect is bound it and the binding become Conditionally Enduring – and both the spell and the binding will cease to be once it fulfils its ending conditions.

Finely made, complicated or decorative items are typically ideal for spell-binding, while simple or crude items are less useful. Item quality applies a small modifier to the casting total of Bind Magic (generally in the range of -2 to +2). In order to successfully bind a spell, Bind Magic's Casting Total must equal or exceed that of the spell to be bound. Bind Magic can only bind spells that are currently controlled and maintained by the caster of Bind Magic.

Max Casting Total of Bound Spell: Equal to Casting Total of Bind Magic (plus item modifier)
