Provided By: Advanced Light Magic

Spell Type: Elemental, Light
Form: Static
Function: Offensive, Defensive
Power Cost: 3 to 6, Overcharge
Duration: Fleeting (flash), Maintainable (barrier)

A more powerful cousin of Bright Ward, Banishing Light creates a dazzling flash of light when cast that repulses nearby enemies before establishing a powerful, shining barrier around the area. Only those the caster regards as enemies are struck by the initial flash, and even then only if the caster is aware of their presence.

Like Bright Ward, Banishing Light impedes movement into the warded area – but it does so more effectively than its weaker cousin. Anybody attempting to enter the area without the caster's permission must make a Strength check exceeding the spell's Barrier Strength in order to breach it – and even then this takes up their entire turn.

Banishing Light does nothing to limit attacks that take place within its perimeter and likewise does not count against attacks launched from inside the barrier at those outside. The barrier does not impede those wishing to leave, or those who have the caster's permission to enter.
