Used in certain magical circles as a type of formal introduction, all those who hear Arcane Greeting cast are granted a Mentalic Impression of the caster while the caster receives an impression of them in return. Framed within the arcane phrases of the spell itself, the caster may also choose to speak his name in order to make the introduction more complete, however this is entirely optional and has no effect upon the workings of the spell. If Arcane Greeting fails to affect an individual for some reason and thus cannot gather a Mentalic Impression of them, then it also fails to grant them an impression of its caster.
