** The new Empress, Tyr Yehen is said to suffer from bouts of madness and horrifying visions and is driven by one such episode to take pilgrimage to the Lesser Rift – where she builds herself a strange palace known as Rysten Taar
* 683 NA
** With the Third Great Drought still stretching on, and the Empress sequestered at Rysten Taar, the Empire begins to unravel as its component states squabble amongst themselves and its people grow increasingly restless
* 707 NA
** Rock Blight sweeps with unthinkable speed through Valdarine, killing nine-in-ten of the population and reducing the survivors to a state of barbarism almost overnight, though for some reason it never spreads beyond the borders of the state
* 708 NA
** Tairath-Vae, Clandaughter of Vae, leads a contingent of Unbound raiders in a series of small battles against the human settlements of Faelorn, Caelora and Vyrith – all built on what was traditionally Vae land in Kul Raes Vae
** Saearra Aesta travels, mostly on foot, across the entire breadth of Laraen – doing whatever she must to survive and continue her journey, and allowing no-one to stop her
* 797 NA
** Tairath-Vae is ambushed by a patrol from the human city of Tyrn during a raid, and whilst badly injured manages to fight her way free
** One of her horns is broken during the fighting, and she refuses to have it healed – seeing it as a badge of honour
** Saearra Aesta arrives at the ruined citadel of Frosthold in Kul Raes Vae, and after communing with the land there, travels onward – out of the human settlements and towards the heart of Vae territory
* 798 NA
** Tairath-Vae leads a raid past the established human settlements in Kul Raes Vae, and all the way into the north-western edge of Laraen – where she slays several minor lords
** Though she is severely reprimanded by the Clanmother and Storm Council, she gains great notoriety amongst the young Vae and particularly with the other Unbound
** Saearra Aesta fights her way to Naes Irvaer – led there by a series of visions – but the caves are holy to the Vandavayr and heavily guarded, and she is overwhelmed by warriors of the Storm Council
** The Storm Council, learning Saearra’s story through a mixture of interrogation and divination, come to believe that she is holy and imprison her rather than killing her – until a good use for her can be found
** Saearra and Tairath-Vae slay one another, and after a number of strange portents the Vae come to believe the two souls are intertwined – leading to both being buried with high honours in the sacred ice-caves of Naes Irvaer
** With the Vae line at an end, the shamans of the Storm Council assume leadership of the Vae clan
* 804 NA
* 816 NA
* 818 NA
** Lussul Sullus are bought by agents of the Chorus of Remembrance in a Keltan bazaar and delivered to Storm-Song Cathedral in the Lymori Gulf
* 819 NA
** Duchess Shyran Laroos of Dusk sends messengers to the Jyrantaal Highroads, inviting the spectre of the Marquis Valooor to the masked ball in honour of her coronation, creating much amusement in polite circles – followed by utter horror when the Marquis duly attends
** Gill Plague ravages the Saltlands and the Federation Army is forced to briefly quarantine the city of Keltan to prevent the disease spreading to the rest of Kelrithine
* 821 NA
** The Marquis Valoor, seemingly much charmed the Duchess Laroos, lingers on in Dusk – bringing macabre visitors from far and wide, including members of the Chorus of Remembrance who are only too glad to take the awkwardly undead noble off her hands
** Bound together in the legends of the Vae for centuries, Saearra Aesta and Tairath-Vae are reborn as a single, combined soul capable of switching between two bodies. She takes the name Saearra Tairath-Vae
** Adventurous merchants from Ildarine and the Crescent States bring home stories of encountering Marquis Ardayne Valooor while travelling the Jyrantaal Highroads – surely a revenant most unholy
* 818 NA
** Lussul Sullus are bought by agents of the Chorus of Remembrance in a Keltan bazaar and delivered to Storm-Song Cathedral in the Lymori Gulf
* 819 NA
* 821 NA
** The Marquis Valoor, seemingly much charmed the Duchess Laroos, lingers on in Dusk – bringing macabre visitors from far and wide, including members of the Chorus of Remembrance who are only too glad to take the awkwardly undead noble off her hands
* 822 NA
** Marquis Ardayne Valooor is interred at the Vault of Curiosities
* 847 NA
** The Cathedral of Storm-Song is raised in the Second Battle of Lymori Gulf, during the Laraen-Kelrithine War
** Seeing that the cathedral is no longer safe, the Chorus of Remembrance relocate the remaining relics of Storm-Song to the Vault of Curiosities – including Lussul Sullus
* 972 NA
** Seraza Sonne Serrain, an Azansakk Dreamer, arrives in Ildarine – keen to learn the fate of his predecessor Jyraz Sonne Jyrass, who visited here centuries ago
** Instead he learns that, in his short absence, the Dreaming Forest has been swallowed by the Wild Sea
* 975 NA
** Wandering aimlessly on the Jyrantaal Highroads, Seraza Sonne Serrain stumbles onto a part of the Shadow Roads and vanishes inside
** Seraza Sonne Serrain arrives in Haze, but stays only long enough to trade for supplies before returning to the Shadow Roads
* 976 NA
** Seraza Sonne Serrain makes three more journeys through the Shadow Roads, briefly visiting Rysten Taar, Bright Spire and Tal Vaar but never finding what he seeks
* 977 NA
** Seraza Sonne Serrain encounters wizards of the Chorus of Remembrance inside the Shadow Roads, and is captured after a short battle
** Seraza Sonne Serrain is interred at the Vault of Curiosities
* 1043 NA
** The Knights Sorcerous of the Spirit Awakening conduct a great ritual at the sacred caves of Naes Irvaer in Kul Raes Vae, and resurrect Kul-Vae – the founder of the Vae clan – and her entire line
** Bound together in the legends of the Vae for centuries, Saearra Aesta and Tairath-Vae are reborn as a single, combined soul capable of switching between two bodies. She takes the name Saearra Tairath-Vae
** Rather than dealing with the Awakeners, Kul-Vae exiles them – and slays those amongst the Storm Council who enabled their plans
* 1044 NA
** Kul-Vae declares herself Clanmother of Vae and sends her line – her hundred daughters, as they are known – out to secure the Vae lands and raise an army for the coming crusade
* 1045 NA
** Kul-Vae declares the War of Second Blood – a crusade to drive all outsiders from the northern part of Kul Raes Vae
** Kul-Vae marches on the Byentin colony of Faelorn in north-west Kul Raes Vae, and eradicates it almost overnight in a series of surprise attacks
** Survivors from Faelorn are systematically driven into the Blood Marsh and are never heard from again
* 1046 NA
** The city of Tyrn, the oldest and strongest of the Laraen settlements in Kul Raes Vae sends its army out to fight the Vae, and wins several decisive battles – killing three of the daughters of Vae
** The Vae counter-attack Tyrn, but are repelled with significant losses
** Kul-Vae leads an expedition into the southern edge of the Shadow Spires, there several more of her daughters die – but she uses their cairns to forge an enchanted path through the spires, allowing the Vae to silently flank Tyrn forces
* 1047 NA
** Saearra Tairath-Vae leads a series of diversionary raids against the settlements of Caelora and Vyrith, drawing the Tyrn army away from home in a fruitless attempt to engage her
** Kul-Vae leads the main Vae force along the Daughters’ Path through the Shadow Spires, and attacks Tyrn by surprise – overwhelming the remaining defenders before they realise the threat
** Cut off from home, Tyrn’s army fights desperately to win through the to remaining settlements in north-eastern Kul Raes Vae, and despite heavy losses is successful in reinforcing the defenders there
** Tyrn is eradicated, and its people driven into the Shadow Spires
** Having taken heavy losses in the Tyrn campaign, the Vae pause to consolidate their holdings in northern-western Kul Raes Vae
* 1048 NA
** In response to the war in Kul Raes Vae, the Laraen Alliance raises the Army of the Western Reach – a strong and well-equipped force of veterans from previous campaigns there
** The Army of the Western Reach makes the ruined Anlaraes citadel of Frosthold its base, and sets about rebuilding it and transforming it into a modern fortress
* 1049 NA
** With Frosthold secure, the Army of the Western Reach joins up with the Tyrn Exiles and begins building up a network for strongholds all throughout the north-eastern part of Kul Raes Vae in order to defend the Laraen and Kylorn settlements there
* 1051 NA
** Though the Army of the Western Reach is better armed and has greater numbers and organisation, the Vae’s knowledge of the land allows them to fight a highly successful guerrilla war against them – inflicting significant losses on the outsiders for every Vandavayr that falls
* 1053 NA
** The Vae surround Frosthold and start to besiege it
** Seven of the daughters of Kul-Vae are slain while leading attacks against Frosthold, and Kul-Vae uses their cairns to build a spirit-wall around the fortress, preventing anyone from leaving and any relief from reaching it
* 1054 NA
** Frosthold finally falls to the daughters of Kul-Vae, though by the end of the great battle only Kul-Vae and Saearra Tairath-Vae remain of the hundred-and-one members of the Vae line
** The remaining Laraen Alliance forces withdraw permanently from Kul Raes Vae, concluding the War of Second Blood
* 1055 NA
** Kul-Vae sends Saearra Tairath-Vae on a quest to seek out and stop whatever is responsible for the deterioration of Kul Raes Vae and other lands throughout Endaraen
* 1056 NA
** Saearra Tairath-Vae travels into north-western Laraen with a small group of followers, and attacks the holdings of a number of local lords and merchants – freeing Vandavayr slaves and retrieving stolen artefacts
** After a fierce battle with a skilled Laraen knight, Saearra Tairath-Vae learns that some in north-western Laraen worship a spirit known as the Voice of the Golden Spire, who they believe to be a divine agent of Schiraman
* 1057 NA
** Saearra Tairath-Vae attempts to infiltrate the Golden Spire in Laraen, hoping to learn more about the Voice that it said to inhabit it, but after a great battle she is captured by the Lords of the Golden Spire, long-time allies of the Chorus of Remembrance
* 1058 NA
** Saearra Tairath-Vae is interred at the Vault of Curiosities
* 1091 NA
** War erupts between the Regulators and the Chorus of Remembrance, dividing the Silver Citadel in two
** Yniolecyr, Tarelcyr, Lussul Sullus, Seraza Sonne Serrain, Saearra Tairath-Vae and Marquis Ardayne Valooor escape from the Vault of Curiosities during the fighting

The Path of Silver is a long and winding road through the Solsheim Deeps, beginning in the Stone Gates region and ending in the Forest of Blades. Since the appearance of the forest in the Seventh Age, the Path of Silver has been the principle route for reaching the Silver Citadel and has been used by countless pilgrims over the centuries.

The original discoverers of the path, and its current guardians, are the Solsheim Wardens - who maintain a number of small rest-stops along its route, as well as controlling the Sinking Tower - which serves as the final gate between the path and the Citadel.

Endaraen is a unusually large and varied Plane on the Fringes. Sometimes called 'the patchwork plane', Endaraen is known for its compact yet highly diverse landscapes and cultures - with borders often defined by a sudden transition from one biome to another.

Many attribute its strange nature to the warping effects of the Great Breach, which struck the plane during the Fifth Age, although others assert that it has always been this way and that the breach had little, if any impact. What is certainly true is that the wars between Law and Chaos that followed the breach did reach Endaraen, though the battles bought there were relatively minor and peripheral to the main campaigns.

After Schiraman returned and order was restored, life on Endaraen returned to something like normal - but during the Sixth Age Jurakell unexpectedly visited the plane in person and pronounced it to be irrevocably tainted by the effects of the Wild Sea. At that time the plane was partially sealed away from the rest of Reshomme, meaning that travel off-plane is limited to a group of similarly condemned fringe-planes.

Although once known as a great stronghold of the Dunoln, the empire withdrew shortly before Jurakell's pronouncement - leaving the cities and artefacts that remained in the hands of a rear-guard of servitors. Legends refer to a number of Dunoln cities, including Yanlyrleas, Nayrilleas and Olnaleas, though all have either been lost or destroyed in the centuries since their abandonment.

During the Seventh Age the plane suffered from a series of devastating wars and natural disasters and ever since, it has been common for cultures on the plane to adopt a bleak and fatalistic tone - with the plane's likely dissolution into the raw Chaos of the Wild Sea a popular theme. Though this process is a slow one, the plane remains in constant flux and few doubt that its final end must be soon. Apocalyptic cults, such as the Chorus of Remembrance are widespread and powerful - as are sects dedicated specifically to Law or Chaos - such as the Lords of the Golden Spire or Fate's Welcome Embrace.
Although her father sought to confront Alas over the death of his lover, Hellani persuaded him that enough blood had been spilt already that day. This decision, to embrace forgiveness over vengeance - even in the face of such a loss - is considered a basic foundation of the worship of Hellani and is something that her followers do their best to emulate.

Hellani tries to remain neutral in the affairs of gods and men, preferring to stop wars rather than start them. Although she has fought in several campaigns in her long lifetime she has never taken a life and has always fought to defend those weaker than herself.

She appears as an attractive woman with copper-coloured hair, bearing a great bronze shield. Her shield is said to have been forged for her as gift by Yndataraen, and the fact that she continues to bear it despite his subsequent betrayal of her father is a sign of her forgiveness. Her symbol is the Healing Hand; a hand held palm-outwards with fingers spread wide. Her followers adhere to the Code of Hellani.

Hellani is a powerful and widely worshipped god; notable followers include the Royal Order of the Hawk in Mantoni, The Church of the Guardians in Marland and the High Temple of Hellani in Thalas.
Unlike many other orders, the Lion maintain extremely strong ties with followers of their God throughout Amethgare, and often dispatch their warriors to assist in law-enforcement in allied nations; especially Antalon, Berellion and the Fortress States. Not only does this system help to strengthen ties between Mantoni and its allies, this also gives the Lion a great deal of information and influence that it can use to its advantage - and helps ensure that the Lion is perceived as the leading order by other nations.

In wartime the Lion specialises in heavy infantry and its troops often form the heart of Mantonian assaults against enemy strongholds. Fate of the Azure Order, from the Books of Shadow's Fall

The Angel of the Third Eye, also known as the Bright Huntress: Iasakell served as a trusted agent of Schiraman before their arrival at Reshomme. However, after the destruction of Sas'Trankha towards the end of the Sixth Age she partially abandoned his teachings - coming to believe that upholding truth and destroying those tainted by Chaos was more important than the principle of Law.

Although she typically keeps a low profile, Iasakell is active throughout the Fringes hunting those who are corrupted by Chaos or who thrive by concealing the truth. Unlike Schiraman himself, she is not always concerned with upholding or even obeying the law of the lands that she visits, instead doing what she believes she must to eliminate Chaos and corruption. As a result she occasionally finds herself in conflict with her former master or his servants and has fought with Jurakell on more than one occasion.

Iasakell has little following on the Core or Central Planes, though several planes of the Fringes, most notably her old home of Jhustusan, owe her allegiance. Her most active followers are known as the Iasunti, a small but fairly widespread order of chaos-hunting warrior-priests.

She most often manifests as a winged Suthyar human with long white hair and golden eyes, armed with a golden spear or bow. Some stories of her say that she can open a third eye, located in her forehead, that lets her unfailingly sense the truth - as a result many of her followers wear a symbol they call The Third Eye, consisting of a circlet decorated with a symbolic eye.

When Jurakell tracked the chaos-demon Taikala to DanTarAen in the Fifth Age his investigations accidentally uncovered the true scope of Yndataraen's ambitions and revealed that he had been corrupted by the will of Draxos.

Yndataraen himself was slain by Jurakell in single combat, although the fact that the powerful Angel was forced to make use of Schiraman's Golden Sword gives an idea of how strong the great dragon had truly become.
When the Black Gate was discovered during the Fourth Age, Schiraman tasked Jurakell with guarding it - a duty that he carries out to this day. Although most of his time is spent at the gate, he has been known to entrust the task for short periods to his own servants while he performs errands elsewhere.

During the Fifth Age Jurakell led an army to assault DanTarAen, stronghold of the corrupt Dragon of the Sun Yndataraen. As his troops, and Mithrilanda's loyal dragons, battled Yndataraen's forces it was Jurakell himself who slew the Dragon of the Sun in single combat - bearing Schiraman's Golden Sword.

Worshippers of Jurakell swear to follow his code.

The Solsheim Wardens are a secretive order of mystic knights dedicated to serving and defending the land and people of the Forest of Blades, particularly (though not exclusively) from those aligned with Chaos. The wardens have long been allied with a variety of other factions associated with Law, and have traditionally served as guardians of the Path of Silver - the subterranean road that travels beneath the Solsgard Mountains and through the Solsheim Deeps to link the Stone Gates with the Silver Citadel.

The Wardens worship Taramis, in his aspect as the guide of Schiraman, and Jurakell - the Angel of the Black Gate.

Many of the order's recruits are drawn from the reclusive local people of the Forest of Blades, and the order is said to have unparalleled knowledge of the forest's scattered settlements and secret paths as a result.

The only known stronghold of the Wardens is the ancient fortress known as the Sinking Tower, though they are rumoured to have other holdings, hidden deeper in the forest or the surrounding mountains.

The Forest of Blades is the name given to the dense forest of Bronzewood trees that grows all around the Silver Citadel, covering the whole of what was once known as the Solshaem Plains - a hundred miles in every direction from the citadel. The tangled growth of the trees, combined with their razor-sharp thorns and leaves and the difficulty of clearing a path due to their metal-hard bark makes the forest almost impassable - especially to larger groups - and this is compounded by the relative lack of undergrowth or animal life - meaning there is little for a traveller to eat.

The origin of the forest is unclear, though it seems to have sprung up fairly suddenly during the Seventh Age, and many speculate that the power of the Citadel was somehow used to deliberately foster its growth - thus providing an additional layer of defence for the arcane stronghold.

Although it is harsh and unforgiving land, there are a few settlements scattered here and there in the forest - survivors of the culture that once occupied the fertile plains. Though these people are generally secretive and retiring, it is said that the mystical warrior-order known as the Solsheim Wardens draws a significant number of its recruits from their villages.

The forest is surrounded on all sides by the Solsgard Mountains, and lies atop the vast, labyrinthine caverns known as the Solsheim Deeps.

The Sword of Glass is an enchanted greatsword, seemingly forged from a single piece of highly reflective silver-brown crystal. The sword's many facets often show images of strange people, objects and places and it is said that the blade speaks to the one who wields it. Since well before the founding of Vala Mantyn, the sword has been handed down through the Mantynar family line and is often thought of as a kind of badge-of-office for the First Captain of Vala Mantyn.

Legend says that only a true Mantynar may wield the sword, and that it cannot be parted from its wielder either in life or death. Since the blade has been handed down for many generations, some scholars of the arcane take this to mean that the blade absorbs the spirit of its wielder when they die, thus allowing the current head of the family to carry the spirits of their ancestors with them at all times.

Although said to be powerful in battle, the Sword of Glass also has a reputation for causing its wielder to become involved in strange and often horrific events. Perhaps because of this, it is sometimes said to be a curse laid on the Mantynar family for having ventured into forbidden and enchanted lands - or perhaps even the Netherworld.

The sword's current wielder is Laeanna Mantynar.

Vala Mantyn is a minor city-state occupying most of habitable land on the island of Mantynae, and is a member of the loose local alliance known as the Crescent States.

Like most of the Crescent States, the culture of Vala Mantyn is dominated by sea-trade - and its government is a republican oligarchy, ruled by a council of merchant families known as the Captains of Mantynae. For most of its history, the founding family of Mantynar has chaired this council, with the head of the house taking on the, largely honorary, position of First Captain. Since Mantynae is sparsely populated and relatively poor compared to its larger neighbours, the majority of the city's trade is consolidated under the Mantyn Trading Company and managed directly by the Captains.

Thanks to its mountainous terrain and treacherous coastline, Vala Mantyn has never been successfully invaded and its adventurous sailors are regarded with respect throughout the Crescent, despite the state itself being fairly insignificant.
Thanks to frequent forays into this dangerous and unstable region, and the difficulty of navigating the wild seas around the island itself, the people of Mantynae have a reputation for being daring and hardy adventurers.

The Crescent States is the collective name given to the island nations of the Kelva Archipelago. The archipelago is extensive and quite widely-spaced, with the northernmost island of Mantynae close to the Glass Coast, while the chain's southern extreme of Tamrinae lies close to the centre of the Atrakel Sea. Although relatively small, and often subject to severe storms, the Kelva islands are fertile and rich with life and are net exporters of food.

Cultures around the sea have long considered the islands to be key to both trade and warfare, and they have been incorporated into many different nations and alliances over their long history of settlement. Most recently, they were a key element of the old Atrakel Empire, along with much of modern Kelrithine, and they still have strong cultural ties to the mainland and are on friendly terms with the Kelrithine Federation.

The Crescent's people are principally Jhantyn and Byentin, though Lehenyar from the Golden Coast region make up a significant majority on the more southern islands.

Each island is governed as an independent state, with a variety of different systems of government - though most are some form of republic. Trade is generally considered to be the ultimate source of both money and power in the Crescent, and rich or famous merchants and explorers often serve as electors or senators.

Tensions are currently high between the Crescent and the travelling city of Kalora, despite their ancient cultural ties. Kalora is presently located to the east of the islands, and has been slowly but steadily making its way across the sea for much of the last two centuries - leading to new opportunities for trade and cultural exchange, but also increased competition over valuable resources and trade routes.
◦ Wandering aimlessly on the Jyrantaal Highroads, Seraza Sonne Serrain stumbles onto a part of the Shadow Roads and vanishes inside
◦ Seraza Sonne Serrain arrives in Haze, but stays only long enough to trade for supplies before returning to the Shadow Roads
• 976 NA
◦ Seraza Sonne Serrain makes three more journeys through the Shadow Roads, briefly visiting Rysten Taar, Bright Spire and Tal Vaar but never finding what he seeks
• 977 NA
◦ Seraza Sonne Serrain encounters wizards of the Chorus of Remembrance inside the Shadow Roads, and is captured after a short battle
◦ Seraza Sonne Serrain is interred at the Vault of Curiosities
• 1043 NA
◦ The Knights Sorcerous of the Spirit Awakening conduct a great ritual at the sacred caves of Naes Irvaer in Kul Raes Vae, and resurrect Kul-Vae – the founder of the Vae clan – and her entire line
◦ Bound together in the legends of the Vae for centuries, Saearra Aesta and Tairath-Vae are reborn as a single, combined soul capable of switching between two bodies. She takes the name Saearra Tairath-Vae
◦ Rather than dealing with the Awakeners, Kul-Vae exiles them – and slays those amongst the Storm Council who enabled their plans
• 1044 NA
◦ Kul-Vae declares herself Clanmother of Vae and sends her line – her hundred daughters, as they are known – out to secure the Vae lands and raise an army for the coming crusade
• 1045 NA
◦ Kul-Vae declares the War of Second Blood – a crusade to drive all outsiders from the northern part of Kul Raes Vae
◦ Kul-Vae marches on the Byentin colony of Faelorn in north-west Kul Raes Vae, and eradicates it almost overnight in a series of surprise attacks
◦ Survivors from Faelorn are systematically driven into the Blood Marsh and are never heard from again
• 1046 NA
◦ The city of Tyrn, the oldest and strongest of the Laraen settlements in Kul Raes Vae sends its army out to fight the Vae, and wins several decisive battles – killing three of the daughters of Vae
◦ The Vae counter-attack Tyrn, but are repelled with significant losses
◦ Kul-Vae leads an expedition into the southern edge of the Shadow Spires, there several more of her daughters die – but she uses their cairns to forge an enchanted path through the spires, allowing the Vae to silently flank Tyrn forces
• 1047 NA
◦ Saearra Tairath-Vae leads a series of diversionary raids against the settlements of Caelora and Vyrith, drawing the Tyrn army away from home in a fruitless attempt to engage her
◦ Kul-Vae leads the main Vae force along the Daughters’ Path through the Shadow Spires, and attacks Tyrn by surprise – overwhelming the remaining defenders before they realise the threat
◦ Cut off from home, Tyrn’s army fights desperately to win through the to remaining settlements in north-eastern Kul Raes Vae, and despite heavy losses is successful in reinforcing the defenders there
◦ Tyrn is eradicated, and its people driven into the Shadow Spires
◦ Having taken heavy losses in the Tyrn campaign, the Vae pause to consolidate their holdings in northern-western Kul Raes Vae
• 1048 NA
◦ In response to the war in Kul Raes Vae, the Laraen Alliance raises the Army of the Western Reach – a strong and well-equipped force of veterans from previous campaigns there
◦ The Army of the Western Reach makes the ruined Anlaraes citadel of Frosthold its base, and sets about rebuilding it and transforming it into a modern fortress
• 1049 NA
◦ With Frosthold secure, the Army of the Western Reach joins up with the Tyrn Exiles and begins building up a network for strongholds all throughout the north-eastern part of Kul Raes Vae in order to defend the Laraen and Kylorn settlements there
• 1051 NA
◦ Though the Army of the Western Reach is better armed and has greater numbers and organisation, the Vae’s knowledge of the land allows them to fight a highly successful guerrilla war against them – inflicting significant losses on the outsiders for every Vandavayr that falls
• 1053 NA
◦ The Vae surround Frosthold and start to besiege it
◦ Seven of the daughters of Kul-Vae are slain while leading attacks against Frosthold, and Kul-Vae uses their cairns to build a spirit-wall around the fortress, preventing anyone from leaving and any relief from reaching it
• 1054 NA
◦ Frosthold finally falls to the daughters of Kul-Vae, though by the end of the great battle only Kul-Vae and Saearra Tairath-Vae remain of the hundred-and-one members of the Vae line
◦ The remaining Laraen Alliance forces withdraw permanently from Kul Raes Vae, concluding the War of Second Blood
• 1055 NA
◦ Kul-Vae sends Saearra Tairath-Vae on a quest to seek out and stop whatever is responsible for the deterioration of Kul Raes Vae and other lands throughout Endaraen
• 1056 NA
◦ Saearra Tairath-Vae travels into north-western Laraen with a small group of followers, and attacks the holdings of a number of local lords and merchants – freeing Vandavayr slaves and retrieving stolen artefacts
◦ After a fierce battle with a skilled Laraen knight, Saearra Tairath-Vae learns that some in north-western Laraen worship a spirit known as the Voice of the Golden Spire, who they believe to be a divine agent of Schiraman
• 1057 NA
◦ Saearra Tairath-Vae attempts to infiltrate the Golden Spire in Laraen, hoping to learn more about the Voice that it said to inhabit it, but after a great battle she is captured by the Lords of the Golden Spire, long-time allies of the Chorus of Remembrance
• 1058 NA
◦ Saearra Tairath-Vae is interred at the Vault of Curiosities
• 1091 NA
◦ War erupts between the Regulators and the Chorus of Remembrance, dividing the Silver Citadel in two
◦ Yniolecyr, Tarelcyr, Lussul Sullus, Seraza Sonne Serrain, Saearra Tairath-Vae and Marquis Ardayne Valooor escape from the Vault of Curiosities during the fighting

A culture of Lehenyar humans that originated in the city of Valdarine City on the plane of Endaraen. Although originally an offshoot of the Jyrantaal states of Yaraen and Jyrankal, the early Valdarites adopted many aspects of Anlaraes and Oraean culture and have traditionally been known as a dynamic, ambitious and often warlike people.

With the fall of the Valdarine after the Rock Blight, the principle example of true Valdarite culture is now the Golden City of Ildarine. Though most of those who still eek out a living in the unforgiving Shard Lands are also of Valdarite descent.

Known as the Golden City, Ildarine is a large and prosperous Valdarite city at the eastern edge of the Golden Coast, just to the north of the Plains of Silver.

Though originally an offshoot of the warlike nation of Valdarine, Ildarine has a long history of careful diplomacy - taking great pains to remain at peace with its neighbours, and relying on commerce rather than conquest to bring it wealth and power. Having remained neutral in the many wars that consumed the states of Jyrantaal, Oraea and Valdarine, Ildarine has outlived them all - and thanks to the continued prosperity of the Plains of Silver it is a significant exporter of food to both the Crescent States and the Kelrithine Federation through its ports on the Golden Coast.

Ildarine's peace, stability and fabled wealth have conspired to make the city a beautiful but decadent place - noted for its ever-shifting fashions and taste in exotic arts. Its social structures are complex and shifting also, and though outright warfare is unheard of, political intrigue, organised crime and even assassination are considered simply parts of everyday life.
Before they were joined, her two bodies were pitted against one another in ritual combat - and during that trial both were killed. Centuries later they were resurrected by necromancers of the Knights Sorcerous of the Spirit Awakening, but the spirits of the two women had become so intertwined that it was not two beings who returned from death, but a single, combined soul.
As a Vandavayr, she is distinctly unusual – her long fur being deep crimson in colour instead of the normal grey or white and her eyes a matching shade. Her great horns are notched from battle, and one is broken – a mark of honour among her kind.

The founder of the Vae dynasty is Kul-Vae, whose twin sister Kul-Raes founded the rival Raes clan. Thanks to the necromantic interventions of the Knights Sorcerous of the Spirit Awakening the entire line of Vae matriarchs from Kul-Vae herself through the hundred descendants of her lineage were resurrected around fifty years ago, allowing Kul-Vae to take on the role of Clanmother once more.
