Aesha Lehtranna was born in [[Great Heldmar]] on the second day of the [[Mantonian Calendar|Wolf]], 394EA, and is the daughter of a [[Knight Adventurer]] of the [[Royal Order of the Lion]] and his consort.

In 409 EA, shortly before her sixteenth birthday, her father was killed by the [[Church of the Sword]] while visiting the Republic of [[Antalon]]. Despite their differences, Aesha was devastated; she abandoned her studies completely and withdrew into herself. Aesha's depression lasted for all of 410 EA and she missed her opportunity to try for the [[Royal Orders]].

Finally, in 411 EA, Aesha recovered somewhat and accepted a visit from the [[Noble Order of the Moon]]. The emissary of the Moon, understanding her better than her family or friends, persuaded her to travel to the [[Tower of the Silver Moon|Tower of the Moon]] and attempt their tests of magic.

Aesha's magical ability proved to be of a rarely encountered strength; delighted with their find, the Moon made her an [[Acolyte]] at once, and her studies began in earnest. Her love of magic was immediate: finally she had found her calling, something for which she showed a unique gift and true understanding.

Passing up the ranks swiftly, Aesha completed her [[Knight Quest]] in 414EA, defeating a demonic creature that haunted the northern town of Kentic. Upon becoming a Knight Adventurer, Aesha was transferred from the [[Silver Moon Sect]] to the [[Silver Dragon Sect]] and moved from the [[Tower of the Silver Moon]] in Great Heldmar to the [[Citadel of the Silver Dragon]] in the far west of the kingdom. This citadel, controlled by the Silver Dragon [[Sect|sects]] of both the [[Royal Order of the Dragon]] and the Order of the Moon was her home for the next seventeen years.

For the first four years at the Citadel of the Silver Dragon, Aesha honed her magical skills, studying the massive magical libraries contained in the Citadel. Growing powerful in the magical arts, Aesha achieved [[Sorcerer Adventurer]] status in 418EA, displaying her mastery of [[Divination]] to her greatly impressed masters. Something in Aesha's inherently magical nature broke free at this point. Her powers passed beyond her control, and she fell into a deep trance and lay as if dead for the next thirteen years. In this time she grew younger, her appearance finally as it was at the age of eighteen, when she first became a Warrior Adventurer. She awoke with no memories of the time beyond that, and her powers had faded to those she had when taking her Knight Quest.

Aesha spent a year catching up with the modern day, until, tired of the mystery, she chose to join the [[Knights of the Silver Cross]].

Soon afterwards, while investigating problems in Order of the Scorpion territory, she met [[Knight Feric Kayin]] of the [[Royal Order of the Scorpion]], with whom she became romantically involved. He and [[Alveraz|Lord Alvarez]] travelled to [[High Temple]] to assassinate the [[Spider Queen]], but Kayin was killed in the attempt.

After defeating the evil that had possessed the [[Tower of Kallerain]], [[Jerall Markant]] adopted [[Erol]], a [[Dorai Khen]], or Forest [[Drake]], although Erol seemed to prefer the company of Aesha. Aesha depends on Erol a great deal and feels lost without him, regarding him as a member of the party in his own right.

While in Nelonia, Aesha entered a draconic plane with [[Benethyarr]] and [[Erol]] in order to rejoin the rest of the party. However, on attempting to leave the [[Dragon's Road|Dragon Plane]], Aesha's spirit was replaced by that of her former self, [[Knight Aesha Lehtranna]].

Sorceress Aesha Lehtranna has now regained her body, but Knight Aesha Lehtranna remains as a spirit on this plane. She is currently haunting the [[Zhe Scabbard|scabbard]] made by [[Benethyarr]] for [[Aesha's sword]].

Knights of the Silver Cross

The Knights of the Silver Cross are the élite troubleshooting team attached to the [[Mantoni|Mantonian]] [[Noble Council]]. They are the counterparts of the [[Knights of the Golden Flame]], who serve the [[Royal Council]]. The present CO of the KotSC is Lord [[Taren Holme]] of the [[Royal Order of the Hawk]].

It is possible to have more than one group of KotSC active at any given time and, in fact, there are currently two. The main characters of the campaign are the First Company (listed below), while the [[Knights of the Silver Cross:Second Company|Second Company]] are a little less noteworthy.

Originally the current First Company were themselves counted as Second, but the deaths of the previous First Company at the [[Tower of Kallerain]] brought about a rapid promotion.

Danton

Also known as Dantoni or the Dantonian Empire. Danton lay in the centre of [[Amethgare]] and was a blessed land; rich, green and fertile.

Danton was established at the end of the [[Dawn Wars]] by a great general of [[Humanity]] of the same name. Later the discovery of the [[Solinast]] added greatly to the fledgeling nation's power and prosperity and allowed it to forge a great empire of Human states, dominating [[Amethgare]] completely.

At the height of its power Danton was a peaceful and prosperous state, a land of poetry and philosophy that upheld the ideals of [[Solandria]] and [[Mithrilanda]].

When the Solinast was destroyed and [[Sulansis]] rose, Danton was thrown into chaos, beset by treachery and civil strife and finally invaded and conquered by Sulansis' [[Army of Darkness]].

Although Sulansis' forces were eventually defeated at the [[Battle of the Stars]], Danton had been occupied for many years and its people and culture were scattered to the winds. The armies of Humanity were too weak to reclaim Danton from the [[Orcs]] who now held it, but this became a moot point when the land itself was burnt away in a huge fire-storm, transforming the once green land into the [[Dragon Desert]] and annihilating its occupiers.

Many remnants of Danton's great culture still persist, centuries after its demise, most notably within the modern kingdom of [[Mantoni]]. The [[Royal Family]] of Mantoni claim direct descent from the Kings of Danton and the [[Royal Orders]] are primarily drawn from the surviving armies of Danton.

Galen Tarr

Amon Valir

Amon Valir was an unpleasant sort who led a large group of the [[Noble Order of the Ebony Wing]] to betray Mantoni. He attempted to foment civil war between the [[Royal Order of the Viper|Viper]] and the [[Royal Order of the Scorpion|Scorpion]] at the Scorpion training-fortress at [[Valour Hill]]. Although his attempt was thwarted by the then-Second Company of the [[Knights of the Silver Cross]] on their first mission, he escaped justice at that juncture, killing [[Kerick Draenor]], and stealing [[Lucian Albrecht]]'s sword in the process.

He used the sword to murder an unfortunate shepherd, and sent the broken remnants back to Lucian. The KotSC eventually tracked his group to an abandoned underground fortress belonging to an extinct Noble Order, but Valir again escaped. The KotSC were forced to chase Valir cross-country, largely by following the trail of blood.

After it became obvious that Valir was heading to Lucian's parents' home in the seaport town of [[Merrish]], the KotSC were able to take a shortcut that Lucian's knowledge of the area, combined with [[Maric Tellrano]]'s wilderness skills, allowed them.

As a result, and by breaking in a loose window, the Knights were able to surprise Valir before he was able to harm [[Mr. and Mrs. Albrecht]] and engage him in battle, resulting in his death. The [[Angel of Alas]] arrived, rather unexpectedly, to claim his soul.

Since his death, his spirit, or echoes thereof, have occasionally encountered the KotSC. Lucian usually advocates killing him again, and has thus far been indulged.

Knight Aesha Lehtranna

While trying to leave the [[Dragon's Road]] after travelling it with [[Benethyarr]], the Sorceress [[Aesha Lehtranna|Aesha Lehtranna's]] personality was split in two, creating a distinct new persona from her forgotten past who has come to be referred to as Knight Aesha Lehtranna.

Knight Aesha Lehtranna is spiritually a little older than Sorceress Aesha Lehtranna, remembering up until around 416EA, a short time before she would take her [[Sorcerer Adventurer|Sorcerer Quest]]. She was a member of the [[Black Dragon Sect]] of the [[Noble Order of the Moon]].

She has remained as a spirit on this plane and is currently haunting Sorceress Aesha Lehtranna's [[Zhe Scabbard|scabbard]].

Dark Curse

Various members of the [[Mantoni]]an [[Royal Family]] are currently suffering from a terrible curse intended to kill the entire royal line. Those afflicted have, so far, been kept alive by powerful healing magics - but they remain trapped in a death-like state and weaken a little more every day.

The [[Knights of the Silver Cross]] were tasked to find and eliminate the source of this curse, and eventually determined that a group of [[Nelonia]]n [[Sulaim]] were using the [[Sulinast]] to effect the dread spell.

After learning of Nelonia from [[Anyssa Sor Rossaim]] and her envoy [[Saryss Jhe Trethain]], the KotSC mounted an expedition to Nelonia along with various allies.

After many battles their quest was finally [[Victory of Light|successful]] in killing those responsible for the curse and destroying the Sulinast itself.

It is not yet known whether this has been enough to save the [[King of Mantoni|King]] and his family, or if it is too little, too late.

Royal Order of the Hawk

One of the twelve [[Royal Orders]] of [[Mantoni]], the Royal Order of the Hawk was built from the remnants of the [[Danton]]ian Army of the Hawk; most of which was destroyed when Danton fell in the [[Seventh Age]].

The Hawk worship [[Hellani]] the [[God]]dess of Healing and Protection and are devoted to the defence of Mantoni above all else. The Hawk are sworn to only ever fight defensive actions and never contribute troops to campaigns of invasion. Most major Mantonian cities have at least some Hawk presence, enabling the other factions to ride out to war knowing that their home territories are well defended.

Onostothorin

A Void-forged blade of fire; Onostothorin is essentially part of the [[Elemental Plane of Fire]] carved out using unimaginable power and bound to a stone sword whose integrity is maintained through a link to the [[Elemental Plane of Earth]].

Onostothorin's power is also linked both to the [[Banesword]] of [[Alas]] and to [[Vellamni|Vellamni's]] [[Valestakha|sword of fire]].

Onostothorin's current owner is a [[Mantoni|Mantonian]] [[Warrior Adventurer]] [[Lucian Albrecht]] and was given to him by the [[First Blademaster of Nentreneth]]. [[Lucian Albrecht|Lucian]] is also in possession of [[Onostothorin's Scabbard]].

In practical terms Onostothorin is a huge, two-handed sword that is magically light and easy to handle and inflicts massive physical and fire damage. Although the entirety of the sword is surrounded by raging fire, its wielder and his clothing and carried items are immune to the flame.

Onostorthorin is an item of great power, poorly understood by its current owner. The full extent of its energy is hinted at by the fact that it is currently powering the [[Great Seal of Aethleas]].

To try and renew the deep friendship that they had once had, Sulansis summoned [[Vellamni]], the [[God]]dess of Passion and Love to heal the breach. Instead when Vellamni appeared she immediatley realised that her beloved son, Solandria's husband, was dead and that Sulansis was responsible. Vellamni burnt out Sulansis' eyes with her [[Vellamni's Sword|sword of fire]] and cast her into the [[Outermost Darkness]].

Somehow though Sulansis survived and during the [[Seventh Age]] she reapeared, now a Goddess in her own right. Soon afterwards she engineered the destruction of the [[Solinast]], struck down [[Mithrilanda]] with the [[Dragonclaw Spear]] and conquered [[Danton]] with her [[Army of Darkness]].

Lucian Albrecht is an archetypal honourable [[Mantoni|Mantonian]] warrior™. His interest in history borders on the obsessive. He declares his atheism in the face of [[God]]s, and thus can be regarded as somewhat self-destructive. Other indicators of psychological instability include a tendency to taunt people who are breaking his fingers; entering combats when already heavily wounded; carrying a sword that, frankly, is [[Onostothorin|quite the most disturbing piece of personal armament]] I have seen in my entire professional career. Lucian should be sectioned immediately.

Lucian's relationship with his magic sword has been strained further by using it to power an [[Great Seal of Aethleas|ancient seal]] and then going off to battle with another [[Aethleas Sword|sword]].

Lucian is also mildly peeved by the fact that his is now decisively [[Mantonian Rank System|outranked]] by everyone in his party.

Lucian is a Warrior Adventurer, who it presently serving with the [[Knights of the Silver Cross]]. He is on his [[Knight Quest]], to recover ancient texts relating to the orgin of the [[Royal Order of the Dragon]] from underneath the [[Dragon Desert]]. He has located some, but they were possessed by [[Shen-Akrath]] and he has yet to excavate a putative second location.

== Biography ==
Lucian Albrecht was born in the small fishing and farming community of [[Merrish]], on the west coast of [[Mantoni]]. He attended the school run there by the [[Royal Order of the Bear]], but was eventually accepted by the [[Royal Order of the Dragon]], an impressive feat for a small-town commoner. (His parents run a large apple and pork farm).

He excelled in two-handed sword training at the [[Citadel of the Silver Dragon]] and, upon promotion to the rank of Warrior, was assigned to the [[Dragon Rider Sect|Dragon Riders]] cavalry as part of the [[Army of the Dragon]] guarding the border with [[Karantas]]. During his year in the borderlands he saw action in a number of skirmishes with the Karantian [[Blackspear Cavalry]].

Impressed by his performance, his superiors recalled Lucian to [[Great Heldmar]] and transferred him to the [[Red Dragon Sect]] before assigning him to the KotSC. Shortly thereafter he was promoted to the [[Dragon Guard]] Sect and asked to keep a watchful eye on the rather erratic [[Sorcerer|Sorceress]] [[Aesha Lehtranna]].

He remains an expert swordsman, presently wielding an [[Aethleas Sword]], although he is the designated bearer of the blade [[Onostothorin]], currently powering the [[Great Seal of Aethleas]]. In addition, he is a skilled tactician and strategist.

Aesha Lehtranna was born in [[Great Heldmar]] on the second day of the Wolf, 394EA, and is the daughter of a [[Knight Adventurer]] of the [[Royal Order of the Lion]] and his consort.

In 409 EA, shortly before her sixteenth birthday, her father was killed by the [[Church of the Sword]] while visiting the Republic of [[Antalon]]. Despite their differences, Aesha was devastated; she abandoned her studies completely and withdrew into herself. Aesha's depression lasted for all of 410 EA and she missed her opportunity to try for the [[Royal Orders]].

Finally, in 411 EA, Aesha recovered somewhat and accepted a visit from the [[Noble Order of the Moon]]. The emissary of the Moon, understanding her better than her family or friends, persuaded her to travel to the [[Tower of the Moon]] and attempt their tests of magic.

Aesha's magical ability proved to be of a rarely encountered strength; delighted with their find, the Moon made her an [[Acolyte]] at once, and her studies began in earnest. Her love of magic was immediate: finally she had found her calling, something for which she showed a unique gift and true understanding.

Passing up the ranks swiftly, Aesha completed her [[Knight Quest]] in 414EA, defeating a demonic creature that haunted the northern town of Kentic. Upon becoming a Knight Adventurer, Aesha was transferred to the [[Silver Moon Sect]] to the [[Silver Dragon Sect]] and moved from the [[Tower of the Silver Moon]] in Great Heldmar to the [[Citadel of the Silver Dragon]] in the far west of the kingdom. This citadel, controlled by the Silver Dragon sects of both the [[Royal Order of the Dragon]] and the Order of the Moon was her home for the next seventeen years.

For the first four years at the Citadel of the Silver Dragon, Aesha honed her magical skills, studying the massive magical libraries contained in the Citadel. Growing powerful in the magical arts, Aesha achieved Sorcerer Adventurer status in 418EA, displaying her mastery of divination to her greatly impressed masters. Something in Aesha's inherently magical nature broke free at this point. Her powers passed beyond her control, and she fell into a deep trance and lay as if dead for the next thirteen years. In this time she grew younger, her appearance finally as it was at the age of eighteen, when she first became a Warrior Adventurer. She awoke with no memories of the time beyond that, and her powers had faded to those she had when taking her Knight Quest.

Aesha spent a year catching up with the modern day, until, tired of the mystery, she chose to join the Knights of the Silver Cross.

While in Nelonia, Aesha entered a draconic plane with Benethyarr and Erol in order to rejoin the rest of the party. However, on attempting to leave the Dragon Plane, Aesha's spirit was replaced by that of her former self, [[Knight Aesha Lehtranna]].

[[Sorceress Aesha Lehtranna]] has now regained her body, but Knight Aesha Lehtranna remains as a spirit on this plane. She is currently haunting the [[scabbard]] made by [[Benethyarr]] for [[Aesha's sword]].
